Job summary

Norwest Private Hospital in Bella Vista is seeking an experienced Clinical Coder to join the Health Information Services team. This casual or permanent part-time role offers flexibility with evening and weekend shifts, based onsite at our Bella Vista campus.

You will code inpatient episodes accurately, participate in quality improvement, and support documentation improvement initiatives within a modern 277-bed acute care facility.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' clinical coding experience within an acute hospital setting.
• HIMAA Certification in Clinical Coding (or equivalent).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely clinical coding of inpatient episodes.
• Abstract and assign diagnostic and procedural codes in accordance with relevant standards.
• Participate in casemix analysis, education, and quality improvement activities.
• Support clinical documentation improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to coding audits and other quality assurance activities as required.

About the Role

Norwest Private Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Coder to join our dedicated Health Information Services team.

As a paper-based hospital, this role is based onsite at our Bella Vista campus. Working independently while collaborating with key stakeholders, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely clinical coding of inpatient episodes and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong clinical coding expertise, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage your workload in a flexible work environment.

• HIMAA Certification in Clinical Coding (or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years' clinical coding experience within an acute hospital setting.
• Strong organiserational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Working knowledge of Codefinder and Turbocoder.
• Understanding of private hospital funding models.
• Experience using the WebPAS patient information system.
