Job summary

Norwest Private Hospital is seeking a Clinical Coding Manager to lead and oversee a high-performing coding team at our Bella Vista campus. You will ensure accuracy, efficiency and compliance while collaborating with the Chief Health Information Manager to guide HIS strategy.

The role is onsite, Monday to Friday, with a focus on developing staff, improving coding standards and driving quality outcomes across the department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Information Management) or equivalent qualification.
• Eligibility for membership with HIMAA.
• Significant experience in clinical coding within an acute healthcare environment.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Extensive knowledge of clinical coding standards and classifications.
• Experience leading and managing coding staff.
• Strong IT and health information systems proficiency.
• Understanding private health funding models and activity-based funding.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support and mentor the Clinical Coding team to deliver a high-quality coding service.
• Monitor coding performance, productivity and KPIs.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and best-practice coding standards.
• Foster a culture of learning through training, coaching and professional development.
• Assist the Chief HIM in the overall management and strategic direction of the Health Information Services department.
