Ayr Backpackers is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to plan and control a fleet of over 25 vehicles that move guests and seasonal workers between the hostel and farms across the Burdekin.

You will oversee scheduling, maintenance, compliance and driver inductions, while contributing to marketing efforts for accommodation and services.

The role offers a permanent full-time position in a friendly regional workplace with strong community ties.

Qualifikationen

• At least 1 year of relevant fleet management or transport coordination experience.
• Experience scheduling vehicles and drivers, coordinating maintenance and keeping compliance records.
• Strong organisational, budgeting and problem-solving skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Current driver’s licence valid in Queensland.

Aufgaben

• Plan and coordinate daily fleet operations including vehicle and driver scheduling.
• Manage preventive maintenance program and arrange servicing and roadworthiness checks.
• Handle registration, insurance and compliance documentation.
• Verify licences and coordinate driver inductions and safe driving procedures.
• Ensure compliance with road transport laws and WHS obligations.
• Manage incident, accident and damage reporting and insurance claims.
• Prepare and monitor fleet budget including fuel and running costs.
• Negotiate with mechanics, suppliers and service providers.
• Recommend vehicle acquisition, replacement and disposal.
• Keep fleet records and report performance and costs to owners.
• Liaise with farms, growers and guests on transport requirements.
• Create social media/online content promoting accommodation and transport.
• Keep listings up to date and respond to reviews.

Ayr Backpackers is an established working hostel and workforce support business in Ayr, in the Burdekin region of North Queensland. We provide accommodation, farm work connections and transport to backpackers, seasonal agricultural workers and travellers, and work closely with local farms, growers and businesses.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Fleet Manager to plan, organise and control our fleet of more than 25 vehicles. The fleet transports guests and seasonal workers between the hostel and farm work sites across the Burdekin every day. You will make sure the fleet is safe, compliant, reliable and cost effective. The role also includes some marketing and promotion of our accommodation and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily fleet operations, including vehicle and driver scheduling for farm transport.
• Manage a preventive maintenance program and arrange servicing, repairs and roadworthiness checks.
• Manage vehicle registration, insurance and compliance documentation.
• Verify driver licences and coordinate driver inductions and safe driving procedures.
• Ensure compliance with Queensland road transport laws and work health and safety obligations.
• Manage incident, accident and damage reporting and insurance claims.
• Prepare and monitor the fleet budget, including fuel, maintenance and running costs.
• Negotiate with mechanics, suppliers and service providers.
• Recommend vehicle acquisition, replacement and disposal.
• Keep accurate fleet records and report to the owners on performance, costs and risks.
• Liaise with farms, growers and guests on work and transport requirements.

Secondary responsibilities – marketing

• Create and publish social media and online content promoting our accommodation, transport and the region.
• Keep our listings on booking platforms up to date and respond to reviews and enquiries.
• Help coordinate promotional campaigns and partnerships with farms and other businesses.

About YouEssential

• At least one year of relevant experience in fleet management, transport operations or vehicle fleet coordination.
• Experience scheduling vehicles and drivers, coordinating maintenance and repairs, and keeping fleet compliance records.
• Strong organisational, budgeting and problem-solving skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Current driver’s licence valid in Queensland.
• Diploma or higher in Logistics, Transport Management, Business, Operations Management or a related field.
• Experience in accommodation, tourism, agriculture or seasonal workforce settings.
• Experience with fleet management or scheduling software.
• Experience with social media, digital marketing or promotional content.
