Qualifications

• At least 1 year of relevant experience in fleet/transport management.

Responsibilities

• Take client bookings and match with vehicle/driver availability to create daily/weekly plans.
• Coordinate vehicle pickups, returns, and on-the-ground execution of schedules.
• Explain hire and pricing terms to clients and manage their responsibilities under the agreement.
• Handle complaints promptly and fairly and resolve issues.
• Oversee servicing, repairs, tyres and safety inspections for the fleet.
• Organise registrations, insurance, accident claims and related paperwork.
• Lead supplier comparisons for new/replacement vehicles and fuel arrangements.
• Prepare weekly/monthly utilization and cost reports for management.
• Support drivers with inductions, licences checks and pre-start checks.
• Monitor fleet spending and advocate for efficiency improvements.

Job Description

Kams Jala Investments Pty Ltd at Salisbury, QLD, is a privately owned Queensland business based on Brisbane's southside, within easy reach of the main road links to Logan, Ipswich and the Gold Coast. Its work is built around a fleet of vehicles that clients rely on for transport and vehicle hire, so every vehicle has to be in good order, correctly booked and in the right place when it is needed. The business is now looking for an experienced Fleet Manager to join the team.

Fleet Manager | Kams Jala Investments Pty Ltd | Salisbury, QLD Key Responsibilities

• Take incoming jobs and booking requests from clients, match them against vehicle and driver availability, and turn them into workable daily and weekly schedules.
• You will then see each plan through on the ground, arranging for vehicles to be picked up and returned and for client goods to be dropped off, and reshuffling runs when work changes at short notice.
• Act as the first point of contact for clients, getting a clear picture of what each one needs, recommending the vehicle best suited to the work, and explaining hire and purchase pricing along with the client's responsibilities under the agreement.
• When something goes wrong, you will deal with the complaint quickly and fairly and make sure it is put right.
• Plan and oversee servicing across the whole fleet, booking scheduled services, repairs, tyres and safety inspections with trusted workshops and following up any defect a driver reports.
• Registrations, insurance and accident repair claims also sit with you, so that no vehicle is off the road for longer than it needs to be.
• Lead the buying side of the fleet by comparing suppliers and quotes for new and replacement vehicles, tools and on-board equipment, setting up fuel supply and fuel card arrangements, and advising management when a unit should be upgraded, retired or added as demand changes.
• Keep the fleet's paperwork complete and audit-ready, from booking files, hire agreements and vehicle histories to service logs, fuel use, tolls, infringements and incident reports.
• From this information you will prepare weekly and monthly operating summaries and reports on utilisation, running costs and job performance for management.
• Coordinate and support the drivers who operate the fleet, running inductions, checking licences and overseeing pre-start vehicle checks and load restraint, with road safety and work health and safety obligations met on every job.
• Track fleet spending against budget and use vehicle tracking and fleet management systems to watch location, usage and idle time, then put forward practical changes that lift utilisation, cut downtime and keep fuel costs under control.

Education and Experience

• At least 1 year of relevant experience as a Fleet Manager or in a similar fleet, transport or logistics management role.
• An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma, preferably in logistics, transport or business management.

• Highly organised, able to keep several schedules moving at once and stay composed when plans change.
• A clear, courteous communicator with clients, drivers, workshops and suppliers.
• Reliable and honest, and just as comfortable working on your own initiative as working within a team.

Salary & Hours

• Permanent, full-time position, typically 38 hours per week.
• $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation per annum.
