Job summary

Mackay Regional Council is seeking a Fleet Officer to turn fleet data into actionable insights, support replacement and budgeting, and coordinate purchases, disposals and fit-outs. You will liaise with Finance and suppliers, maintain asset records, and drive process improvements using Power BI, Excel and Power Automate.

The role values diverse backgrounds beyond traditional fleet experience, with on‑the‑job training and strong financial acumen essential. A current C Class license is required.

Qualifications

• Three to five years in fleet administration, asset management, finance, procurement, or data analysis.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to turn data into practical recommendations.
• Financial capability including budgeting, forecasting and cost analysis.
• Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement.
• High proficiency in Excel and willingness to learn new systems.
• Current C Class Driver Licence.
• Experience with Power BI, Power Automate and SharePoint is highly regarded.
• Open to candidates from diverse professional backgrounds; fleet background not required.

Responsibilities

• Analyse fleet data and turn it into reports, dashboards and recommendations.
• Undertake financial modelling, lifecycle costing and replacement planning.
• Support budget preparation, forecasting and fleet hire rate development.
• Coordinate vehicle purchases, disposals and contracts with suppliers.
• Liaise with Finance and follow purchasing processes.
• Maintain accurate fleet and asset information in Assetic.
• Collaborate with operational teams and stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Improve reporting and business processes using Excel, Power BI and Power Automate, and SharePoint.
