Mackay Regional Council is seeking a Fleet Officer to turn fleet data into actionable insights, support replacement and budgeting, and coordinate purchases, disposals and fit-outs. You will liaise with Finance and suppliers, maintain asset records, and drive process improvements using Power BI, Excel and Power Automate.
The role values diverse backgrounds beyond traditional fleet experience, with on‑the‑job training and strong financial acumen essential. A current C Class license is required.
Turn data, financial insight and good coordination into practical fleet solutions.
As our Fleet Officer, you'll play an important role in supporting Council's Light Fleet program, combining analysis, financial planning and day-to-day coordination to help us make informed fleet decisions.
This is not a role that requires you to arrive as a fleet technical specialist. We're looking for someone who can work confidently with data, numbers, systems and people. Fleet-specific technical knowledge can be developed on the job.
This is a varied role that balances focused analytical work with practical coordination across Council and with external suppliers.
You'll analyse fleet and financial information, prepare reports and recommendations, support vehicle replacement and budget planning, and coordinate activities such as vehicle purchases, disposals and fit-outs.
You'll also spend time working with suppliers and vehicle body builders to discuss specifications and equipment fit-outs, and collaborate with Finance and operational teams to keep fleet activities moving.
Because fleet activities connect across a number of Council processes, you'll need to be organised, comfortable managing competing priorities and willing to support the broader team when workloads change.
You'll:
You'll bring experience in fleet administration, asset management, finance, procurement, data analysis or a related field, ideally developed over three to five years in a similar environment.
You'll also have:
Experience with Power BI, Power Automate and SharePoint would be highly regarded.
Don't have a traditional fleet background? That's OK.
We’re open to candidates from a range of professional backgrounds. Fleet-specific knowledge can be developed, while strong skills in analysis, finance, procurement, asset management or business provide an excellent foundation for the role.
A Certificate III in Business would also be relevant.
