Job summary

Department of Justice and Community Safety VIC – Chewton VIC is hiring a Business Support Officer to help run work and training programs at Loddon Prison and Middleton. You will support managers and help prisoners prepare for work after release.

You will provide reliable office support, manage purchase orders, track costs, prepare reports, and maintain safety records. The role may involve direct prisoner contact and may require leave cover across administrative areas.

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications required for this role.
• Strong administration or business support skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Oracle, PIMS, JETS and Centurion.
• Workplace safety knowledge relevant to manufacturing and service industries.
• Clear communication and problem-solving skills; ability to adapt and work with others.

Responsibilities

• Provide reliable office support, arrange meetings and help manage staff rostering.
• Manage purchase orders, track production costs and keep accurate financial records.
• Prepare clear reports, review data and suggest ways to improve services; coordinate prisoner pay, job changes and work history records.
• Maintain detailed safety records, including tool and chemical registers, and help staff use computer systems.
