Job summary

Department of Justice and Community Safety VIC in Victoria is seeking a programs officer to support prisoner programs, assist access to services, and maintain essential records. Qualifications

Experience or understanding of working in a correctional environment.
Experience in welfare, employment or housing is an advantage.
Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment is desirable but not essential.
Experience using Microsoft 365 applications.
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain information clearly.
Flexibility and a respectful approach when working with people from diverse backgrounds.
Sound problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.

Responsibilities

Deliver prisoner programs and support services, including intake and orientation.
Assist prisoners to access programs, activities and welfare support.
Complete administration, maintain records and manage program information.
Support staff with prisoner referrals, welfare requests and daily program activities.
Work with multidisciplinary teams to encourage program participation and successful community transition.
