Job summary

Rio Tinto is seeking a Controller – Fixed Plant to support Pilbara operations from the Integrated Control room near Perth Airport. This 24/7 role involves coordinating fixed plant activities, monitoring performance and ensuring safe, efficient operations within the mine’s integrated network.

Reporting to the Supervisor PMO Control, you will work with site teams to support production, maintenance and timely decision‑making in a demanding environment at the Perth Operations Centre.

Qualifications

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
• Experience in operational control, fixed plant or process operations within a mining or industrial environment.
• Ability to remain calm and effective in high‑pressure, time‑critical situations.
• Clear communication and collaboration skills.
• Technical understanding of fixed plant or processing operations.
• Computer literacy and confidence using operational and Microsoft‑based systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating and monitoring fixed plant operations to ensure safe, stable and efficient performance.
• Adhering to Rio Tinto standards, policies and procedures at all times.
• Identifying and managing operational risks, escalating issues where required.
• Collaborating with site‑based teams and other control room disciplines to support production and maintenance activities.
• Using operational systems and real‑time data to identify deviations and support timely decision‑making.
• Supporting the execution of daily and short‑term operational plans.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across safety, reliability and performance.
