Job summary

Join Mackay Sugar at Farleigh Mill as a Fitter – Leading Hand. You will lead a maintenance workgroup, provide hands-on support and drive safe, reliable maintenance to keep boiler plant, steam turbines and materials handling equipment operating efficiently.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will bring five years post-trade experience, strong leadership and safety commitment, and work in a permanent, full-time role with excellent leave and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years post trade experience.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Capability to lead maintenance of boiler plant, steam turbines and materials handling equipment.
• Experience with maintenance practices in boiler plant and turbines.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to lead a work team; commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead a site maintenance workgroup to deliver safe, efficient maintenance outcomes.
• Provide hands-on maintenance support to ensure plant performance.
• Promote safety culture and ensure environmental and operational standards are met.

Fitter – Leading Hand Farleigh Mill

About the Role

Come and join our Maintenance team at Farleigh Mill and take the next step in your trade career. This permanent opportunity is ideal for a qualified Fitter & Turner interested in stepping into a Leading Hand role. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you'll lead a site workgroup while providing hands-on support to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable maintenance outcomes. You'll play a key role in supporting the performance of our plant and infrastructure, while promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with environmental and operational standards.

As a minimum you will:

• Have a minimum of five (5) years post trade experience;
• Have strong, well developed interpersonal communication skills,
• Have the capability to lead the maintenance of boiler plant, steam turbines and materials handling equipment;
• Have specific experience and knowledge of typical maintenance practices in boiler plant, auxiliary boiler plant and turbines;
• Have basic computer skills;
• Have the capability to work within and provide leadership to a work team; and
• A dedicated commitment to safety in the workplace
