Job summary

Uniting NSW.ACT is seeking a First Nations Mental Health Support Worker in Maitland, NSW. This part-time, max-term role (4 days per week) focuses on psychosocial support, helping people work towards recovery, independence and cultural connection.

Your day includes home visits and community outreach, developing recovery plans, and collaborating with families, carers and local health professionals to enable culturally safe care. A Certificate IV in Community Services or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Community Services or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in mental health support or psychosocial services.
• Understanding of First Nations communities and culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual psychosocial support to people with mental illness.
• Develop and review recovery plans with consumers.
• Support daily living skills and independence.
• Build relationships with families, carers and clinicians.
• Advocate for culturally safe services and access.
• Maintain accurate documentation and reports.
