Job summary

Uniting NSW & ACT is hiring a First Nations Mental Health Support Worker in the Newcastle Region. The role involves community outreach, home visits and office days, delivering psychosocial support within the CLS framework to adults experiencing mental health challenges.

You will work with First Nations communities to strengthen cultural connections and access to services, guided by individual recovery goals and culturally safe practices.

Qualifications

• Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification under NSW law.
• Evidence of Aboriginality required per Uniting’s recruitment rules.
• Experience with First Nations communities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualised psychosocial support to First Nations consumers.
• Develop, implement and review recovery plans and goals.
• Support independence and everyday living skills.
• Build relationships with consumers, families and community services.
• Help consumers access culturally safe health services.
