Job summary

Yarra Ranges Council seeks a Municipal Fire Prevention Program Lead to coordinate the council’s fire prevention program and municipal fire management planning, reducing risks and preparing the community for fire season. You will oversee inspections, advise on complex fire risks, coordinate contractors and maintain plans.

The role also involves delivering a fire risk project, providing technical advice to residents and contractors, and supporting emergency operations as needed, including outside

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating fire prevention, fire management or related emergency management programs.
• Knowledge of fire behaviour, fire risk assessment and measures to reduce risks to people, property and Council land.
• Understanding of the Country Fire Authority Act 1958 and the ability to apply relevant legislation and delegated powers to fire prevention matters.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Council’s fire prevention program and municipal fire management planning.
• Oversee annual fire hazard inspection program and liaise with inspectors and compliance teams.
• Coordinate compulsory clearing contractors and maintain fire management plans.
• Support committee meetings and work with fire agencies, land managers and Council teams.
