Job summary

Latrobe City Council in Morwell is seeking an Assistant Municipal Fire Prevention Officer to join the Emergency Management team on a casual, temporary basis (23/11/2026 to 30/04/2027). You will carry out fire prevention inspections, assess properties and identify hazards to support compliance with fire prevention legislation.

You’ll work with community members and partner agencies to promote fire safety, issue notices under delegation, and contribute to broader emergency management activities.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of fire risk management.
• Ability to assess properties and identify fuel hazards.
• Proficient in using software systems including MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fire prevention inspections and identify properties at risk.
• Support fire prevention works on private and public land, including reserves.
• Issue fire prevention notices under delegation to reduce hazards.
