Job summary

Latrobe City Council invites applications for an Assistant Municipal Fire Prevention Officer to join our Emergency Management team in Morwell. You will conduct fire prevention inspections, assess properties and identify hazards to help protect people, property and public spaces.

This casual role involves supporting fire prevention works, issuing notices under delegation and collaborating with community members and agencies to promote fire safety.

Qualifications

• Sound knowledge of fire risk management.
• Ability to assess properties and measure fuel hazards.
• Administrative experience and proficiency with software, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to excellent customer service.
• Current Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out fire prevention inspections and identifying properties that may present a fire risk.
• Supporting the preparation, implementation and monitoring of fire prevention works across private and public land, including Council bushland reserves.
• Issuing fire prevention notices under delegation to help reduce fire hazards across the municipality.
• Promoting community awareness of fire prevention requirements, plans and legislation.
• Working with fire management authorities and other agencies to support community education and fire safety initiatives.
• Assisting the Emergency Management team to respond to community needs during times of crisis.
