Job summary

Australian Venue Co. is seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Melbourne finance team. You will support accurate financial accounting, lease accounting under AASB16, and related-party reconciliations across a multi-venue business.

You will contribute to month-end and year-end reporting, budgeting, and statutory returns, with exposure to acquisitions and capitalised rents. The ideal candidate has 3–4 years in Big 4 or mid-tier audit and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of experience in Big 4 or mid-tier financial accounting roles.
• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related discipline.
• Experience with reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, budgeting and variance analysis.
• Experience working with lease, property or operational data.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills (intermediate to advanced).

Responsibilities

• Prepare operational rent accounting, including reviewing lease management data, ledger postings, accruals and prepayments.
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances and coordinate resolutions.
• Support rent and related-party variance analysis across Finance, Property, Leasing and Operations.
• Prepare annual rent budgets and weekly turnover rent estimates.
• Assist with AASB 16 lease calculations and statutory lease schedules.
• Coordinate information required for external audits and reviews.
• Assist with accounting-to-tax reconciliations and tax provision requirements.
• Contribute to improvements in finance processes, controls, systems and reporting.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant with 3–4 years’ experience in a Big 4 or mid-tier audit firm, or a similar financial accounting role, to broaden their commercial experience in a growing multi-entity business. ### About the roleReporting to the Corporate Finance Manager, you will support accurate and timely financial accounting, operational rent accounting, related-party reconciliations and construction work-in-progress reporting.You will play an important role in month-end and year-end reporting, budgeting, audit requirements, statutory reporting and AASB 16 lease accounting.
