Job summary

Amtek is seeking a Field Technician to install, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic equipment at customer locations. Based from Preston depot, this role serves Melbourne and outer suburbs with a company vehicle and tools provided.

This hands-on position involves significant daily driving and offers training and support to develop technical skills in the field.

Responsibilities

• Install, replace, and maintain EFTPOS terminals, POS systems, pin pads, PCs, peripherals, scanner scales, and networking equipment.
• Attend customer sites to diagnose faults and complete repairs.
• Provide professional and friendly customer service while resolving technical issues.
• Complete equipment installations, upgrades, and replacements accurately and efficiently.
• Manage assigned jobs from start to finish and ensure work is completed to a high standard.
• Maintain accurate boot stock records and handle parts and equipment responsibly.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Field Technician to install, replace, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic equipment at customer locations.

Based from our Preston depot, this role services customers throughout Melbourne and the outer metropolitan suburbs.

This is a field-based role involving significant daily driving between customer sites. A fully maintained company vehicle, tools, and equipment are provided.

This role is ideal for someone with:

Basic computer repair or IT experience

Experience working with hardware, cables, and electronic equipment

A willingness to learn and develop technical skills

A practical, hands-on approach to problem solving

Training and support will be provided to help you build your skills and confidence in the field.

Key Responsibilities

Installing, replacing, and maintaining EFTPOS terminals, POS systems, pin pads, PCs, peripherals, scanner scales, and networking equipment

Attending customer sites to diagnose faults and complete repairs

Providing professional and friendly customer service while resolving technical issues

Completing equipment installations, upgrades, and replacements accurately and efficiently

Managing assigned jobs from start to finish and ensuring work is completed to a high standard

Maintaining accurate boot stock records and handling parts and equipment responsibly

Travelling regularly between customer locations as part of daily field operations

Requirements

Strong communication and customer service skills

Basic computer hardware and software knowledge

Some experience with PC repairs, installations, or technical troubleshooting

A willingness to learn new technologies and develop technical skills

Ability to pass a medical and police check

Experience in fault diagnosis and PC hardware repairs

Experience installing EFTPOS, POS, networking, or electronic equipment

NMI Certification (6.2 Non-Automatic Weighing Instruments)
