Job summary

Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia in Gunnedah, NSW, is seeking a Field Service Fitter or Heavy Diesel Mechanic. You will diagnose, repair and maintain Hitachi machinery across multiple sites and customer fleets, including shutdowns, with a focus on quality service and proactive problem solving.

Reporting to the Service Coordinator, you will respond to breakdowns, assist with commissioning new equipment, and ensure proper documentation while building strong customer relationships.

Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate III in Mobile Plant Mechanics or equivalent.
• Experienced diesel mechanics; OEM experience and excavator diagnostics are a plus.
• Customer-focused with strong planning and quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain and upgrade Hitachi machinery across sites and shutdowns.

In this role, you will provide diagnostic, repairs, and maintenance services to multiple sites, shutdowns and customer fleets across customer Mining and Construction Projects. The Opportunity

Reporting to the Service Coordinator, your responsibilities include:

• Diagnosing, maintaining, and upgrading Hitachi machinery
• Responding to breakdowns and conducting diagnostics
• Joining the build team to commission new equipment
• Completing and submitting required documentation
• Maintaining strong relationships with customers, peers, and departments
