Job summary

Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd in Emerald, QLD, is hiring a Field Service Fitter on a permanent basis with flexible rosters (7/7, 9-day fortnight, or 4-day week). You’ll support customers across civil, agriculture and mining sites with a company vehicle and allowances.

The role requires CAT machinery experience, trade qualifications, strong diagnostic skills and a safety-first mindset; travel between sites across the region is expected.

Qualifications

• Trade qualifications required: Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology, Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent diesel fitter trade.
• Experience working on CAT machinery and diagnostic tooling.
• Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.

Responsibilities

• Complete all repairs and maintenance in a safe and timely manner.
• Plan and organise daily service requirements.
• Maintain and complete all paperwork associated with job completion.
• Ensure the quality of your work is of the highest standards at all times.
• Monitor workflows and time to maximise efficiency and productivity.

We are on the hunt for a Field Service Fitter to join our award-winning team in Emerald. This is a permanent position offering flexible roster options, including 7/7, Monday to Friday, a 9-day fortnight or a 4-day week. You will support customers across a mix of civil, agriculture and mining sites, with a vehicle, Field Service Allowance and Area Allowance provided. This role would suit someone who lives in Emerald or the surrounding area.

About You

A successful teammate will have:

• Trade qualifications - Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology, Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent diesel fitter trade.
• Caterpillar product knowledge - experience working on CAT machinery, systems and diagnostic tooling.
• Strong troubleshooting skills - ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults independently.
• Customer-focused mindset - confident in building relationships, managing expectations and providing clear updates.
• Safety-first approach - committed to maintaining high WHS standards at all times.
• Valid driver's licence - required to travel between customer sites across the region.
• Site vaccination requirements - Current Q Fever and hepatitis A and B vaccinations, or willingness to obtain them, are required to work across agriculture and waste transfer sites.
