Job summary

Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd in Rockhampton is seeking a Field Service Fitter to maintain CAT machinery across the region. The role features a 7/7 12-hour roster with ute and travel provided.

You will perform maintenance, fault finding and reconditioning, and work with customers to ensure reliability and performance across site operations.

Qualifications

• Trade qualifications required: Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology, Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
• Caterpillar product knowledge or experience with CAT machinery.
• Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Customer-focused mindset with ability to manage expectations and communicate clearly.
• Safety-first approach with commitment to high WHS standards.
• Valid driver’s licence to travel between customer sites in the Rockhampton region.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repairs and reconditioning work on CAT machinery and engines.
• Ensure repairs follow control guidelines to prevent rework.
• Assess reusability of disassembled parts.
• Submit accurate service reports, timecards, parts requests and quotes.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated Field Service Fitter to join our Hastings Deering team, supporting operations across the Rockhampton area, ensuring reliability and performance. This opportunity includes a 7/7 12-hour roster, with ute and travel provided.

• Perform maintenance, repairs and reconditioning work on all CAT machinery and engines.
• Ensure repairs are carried out following appropriate control guidelines to prevent rework.
• Assess the reusability of all disassembled parts.
• Submit accurate service reports, timecards, parts request sheets and parts quotes.
• Support the sale of genuine parts and provide guidance and advice to customers when required.

About You

• Trade qualifications - Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology, Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent diesel fitter trade.
• Caterpillar product knowledge - experience working on CAT machinery, systems and diagnostic tooling.
• Strong troubleshooting skills - ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults independently.
• Customer-focused mindset - confident in building relationships, managing expectations and providing clear updates.
• Safety-first approach - committed to maintaining high WHS standards at all times.
