Job summary

Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd is seeking an experienced Field Service Electrical Fitter to join our Toowoomba team. In this hands-on role, you'll travel to customer sites across the Darling Downs region, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining Caterpillar electrical systems in heavy equipment.

You'll provide on-site commissioning and faults handling, complete service reports, mentor apprentices, and uphold safety and quality standards while delivering timely service with strong customer

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified Electrical Mechanic/Fitter or dual trade Electrician/Fitter with 3–5 years post-trade experience.
• Experience on CAT machinery, systems and diagnostic tooling.
• Strong fault-finding across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Customer-focused with ability to manage expectations and provide updates.
• Commitment to WHS safety standards.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Hastings Deering is looking for an experienced Field Service Electrical Fitter to join our Toowoomba team. In this hands‑on role, you'll work directly with customers across the Darling Downs region, providing expert electrical diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and commissioning support on Caterpillar equipment. No two days are the same, with a mix of fault finding, customer interaction and technical problem solving in the field.

About You

A successful teammate will have:

• Trade qualifications – Trade qualified Electrical Mechanic/Fitter or dual trade Electrician/Fitter with at least 3 - 5 years post‑trade experience.
• Caterpillar product knowledge – experience working on CAT machinery, systems and diagnostic tooling.
• Strong troubleshooting skills – ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults independently.
• Customer‑focused mindset – confident in building relationships, managing expectations and providing clear updates.
• Safety‑first approach – committed to maintaining high WHS standards at all times.
• Valid driver's licence – required to travel between customer sites across the Toowoomba region.
