Job summary

Bechtel Australia invites applications for a 4-month internship in the Eva Copper Field Engineering team on a 2/1 roster from Brisbane to Cloncurry, QLD, Nov 2026 to Feb 2027. You will assist with technical direction, site coordination, and learning how large-scale EPC projects are delivered.

You must be enrolled in a four-year B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, able to work in Australia, and willing to relocate/travel to project sites.

Qualifications

Completed coursework relevant to mechanical engineering.
Prior co-op or internship experience in engineering or construction.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Practical work experience in a construction environment.
Demonstrated teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Provide technical direction to the craft for installation of mechanical equipment.
Interpret and apply industry codes for installation of rotating and mechanical equipment.
Interface with other functions including engineering and procurement.
Perform constructability reviews.
Plan and package the work for the craft.
Verify installed quantities.
Resolve technical issues with designer of record.
Manage equipment and materials for both permanent plant and indirect construction use.
Perform inspections and tests to verify quality and manage quality records.
Interact with subcontractors.
Implement standard work processes and procedures.
