This is a 4 month internship placement in the Eva Copper Field Engineering team on a 2/1 roster from Brisbane to Cloncurry, QLD from Nov-2026 to Feb-2027.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Eligible to work in Australia without sponsorship currently or in the future.
• Able and willing to relocate or travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction to the craft for installation of mechanical equipment.
• Interpret and apply industry codes for installing rotating and mechanical equipment.
• Interface with engineering and procurement functions.
• Perform constructability reviews.
• Plan and package the work for the craft.
• Verify installed quantities and manage quality records.
• Resolve issues with the designer of record.
• Manage equipment and materials for construction.
• Perform inspections and tests to verify quality.
• Interact with subcontractors.

The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea.Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. About the Candidate

• Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Mechanical Engineering at an accredited college or university


• Possess the eligibility to work and remain in Australia without sponsorship now or in the future


• Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Completed relevant coursework


• Prior co-op or internship experience


• Excellent written and oral communication skills


• Practical work experience in a construction environment


• Demonstrated teamwork skills
