Job summary

Optus is seeking a senior leader to manage Federal Government network operations, overseeing a team of Tier 2 and Tier 3 engineers and driving automation, observability, and proactive service delivery. The role emphasizes security, governance, and operational excellence across managed services for government customers.

The role requires Australian citizenship and NV1 security clearance eligibility, with a strong track record in large-scale operations and strategic stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• NV1 security clearance or eligibility to obtain and maintain clearance.
• Minimum 12 years' technical specialist or engineering experience in large-scale managed services or network operations.
• Proven track record leading multi-disciplinary technical teams in enterprise environments.
• Deep technical expertise across network engineering, service assurance, incident management, observability, and operational service delivery.
• Experience driving automation- and AI-led operations and proactive monitoring.
• Experience working in Federal Government or highly regulated environments with security, governance and compliance awareness.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing team of Tier 2 and Tier 3 Network Engineers across Federal Government network operations.
• Own delivery and service assurance of Managed Network Services, meeting SLAs and performance targets.
• Drive transformation to intelligence-led, automation-first operations using automation, AI, and observability.
• Act as senior technical escalation authority for critical incidents and major service events with clear communication to customers and stakeholders.
• Build a secure, compliant, and scalable Federal Government operations capability with engineering standards and security obligations.
• Influence roadmaps by partnering with Product, Network, Security, Client Delivery, and vendor teams.
