Job summary

Optus is seeking a senior leader to manage Federal Government network operations, overseeing Tier 2/3 engineers and driving automation-first strategies for proactive service delivery. The role emphasizes security, governance, and stakeholder collaboration to sustain service reliability across managed networks.

You will coordinate with product, security, and client delivery teams to uplift capabilities, accelerate issue resolution, and enhance customer experience in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• NV1/NV2 Federal Government security clearance, or eligibility to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
• Minimum 12 years’ technical specialist or engineering experience within large-scale ITIL-aligned managed services or network operations environments.
• Extensive leadership experience leading large multi-disciplinary technical teams in complex enterprise environments.
• Deep technical expertise across network engineering, service assurance, incident management, observability, and operational service delivery.
• Demonstrated success driving operational transformation through automation, AI-led operations, proactive monitoring, and intelligent event management.
• Experience working within Federal Government or highly regulated environments with security, compliance, and governance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing team of Tier 2 and Tier 3 Network Engineers.
• Own the delivery and service assurance of Managed Network Services, ensuring proactive monitoring and rapid incident resolution.
• Drive transformation to intelligence-led, automation-first operations leveraging automation and observability.
• Act as the senior technical escalation authority for critical incidents and major service events.
• Build and maintain a secure, compliant, and scalable Federal Government operations capability.
• Influence strategic roadmaps by partnering with Product, Network, Security, Client Delivery, and vendors to improve performance and customer outcomes.
