Job summary

Optus is seeking a senior leader to manage Federal Government network operations, delivering Managed Network Services with proactive monitoring and rapid incident resolution. You will lead Tier 2/3 engineers, drive automation-first initiatives, and act as the principal escalation authority for critical incidents.

The role focuses on building a secure, scalable operations capability with strong governance, achieving top-tier service outcomes for government clients within a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• NV1/NV2 Federal Government security clearance or eligibility to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
• Minimum 12 years' technical specialist or engineering experience within large-scale, ITIL-aligned managed services or network operations environments.
• Extensive leadership experience leading large, multi-disciplinary technical teams in complex enterprise environments.
• Deep technical expertise across network engineering, service assurance, incident management, observability, and operational service delivery.
• Demonstrated success driving operational transformation through automation, AI-led operations, proactive monitoring, and intelligent event management.
• Experience working within Federal Government or highly regulated environments with security, compliance, and governance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing team of Tier 2 and Tier 3 Network Engineers, driving technical excellence and accountability across Federal Government network operations.
• Own the delivery and service assurance of Managed Network Services, ensuring proactive monitoring, rapid incident resolution, strong governance, and achievement of SLAs.
• Drive the transformation to intelligence-led, automation-first operations leveraging automation, AI, and observability capabilities to improve reliability and resolution times.
• Act as the senior technical escalation authority for critical incidents and major service events, providing clear communication to customers and stakeholders.
• Build and maintain a secure, compliant, and scalable Federal Government operations capability, ensuring engineering standards, security obligations, and service requirements are met.
• Influence strategic roadmaps by partnering with Product, Network, Security, Client Delivery, and vendor teams to enhance service performance and customer outcomes.
