Job summary

Active Tree Services is seeking 2 experienced Fabricators / Truck Body Builders to join our workshop team in Australia. You will fabricate, assemble and fit-out custom truck bodies and specialised equipment, working with truck cranes, hooklifters, skip loaders and hydraulic systems across a positive, safety-focused workshop.

You will read drawings, measure and prepare materials, perform MIG welding and coordinate with fabrication, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical teams to deliver

Qualifications

• Experience in fabrication or truck body build environments.
• Strong MIG welding and fabrication skills.
• Ability to read drawings and work from measurements.
• Experience with fitting and assembling fabricated components.
• Current driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble custom truck bodies and components.
• Fit truck body components and related equipment.
• Measure, cut, drill, grind and prepare materials for fabrication.
• Perform MIG welding and general fabrication tasks.
• Read drawings and interpret specifications.
• Install brackets, trays and other fabricated parts.
• Assist with installation of truck-mounted equipment.
• Modify and repair truck bodies and equipment.
• Work closely with fabrication, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical teams.
• Maintain a clean, safe workshop.

Join a growing team that builds and installs some of the most specialised trucks on the road.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking 2 experienced Fabricators / Truck Body Builders to join our workshop team.

You will be involved in the fabrication, assembly and fit-out of custom truck bodies and specialised truck-mounted equipment. Our workshop works across equipment including truck cranes, hooklifters, skip loaders, tailgate lifters, hydraulic systems and custom-built truck bodies.

This is a great opportunity for experienced tradespeople who enjoy hands‑on work, variety and taking pride in seeing a quality truck build come together from fabrication through to completion.

About the Role

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

• Fabricating and assembling custom truck bodies and components
• Fitting truck body components and associated equipment
• Measuring, cutting, drilling, grinding and preparing materials for fabrication and assembly
• MIG welding and general fabrication work
• Reading and interpreting drawings, measurements and specifications
• Installing brackets, guards, trays, toolboxes and other fabricated components
• Assisting with the installation of truck‑mounted equipment
• Carrying out modifications and repairs to truck bodies and equipment
• Working closely with our fabrication, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical teams to complete high-quality builds
• Maintaining a clean and safe workshop environment

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in fabrication, truck body building, trailer manufacturing, heavy vehicle fit‑out or a similar environment
• Strong MIG welding and fabrication skills
• Ability to confidently use workshop tools and fabrication equipment
• Ability to read and work from drawings and measurements
• Experience assembling and fitting fabricated components
• Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
• Ability to work effectively as part of a workshop team
• Current driver's licence
• Relevant fabrication or welding trade qualification would be highly regarded
