Job summary

Austec Fabrications in Sydney's Smeaton Grange workshop is seeking experienced Truck Body Builders and Trailer Builders to join our team. Hands-on experience building truck bodies, trays or trailers is essential, with trade background in boilermaking, welding or fabrication welcomed.

You will work from drawings and specs to measure, cut, weld and fit components, fabricating from steel, aluminium and stainless steel.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience building truck bodies, trays or trailers.
• MIG welding skills; TIG experience is a bonus.
• Ability to read drawings and work from measurements.
• Own hand tools, a current driver’s licence and full working rights in Australia.

• Fabricate, assemble and fit truck bodies, trays and trailer components.
• Work from drawings and specifications to measure, mark out, cut, weld and fit components.
• Carry out fit-outs, modifications and repairs on truck bodies, trailers, tippers and other heavy vehicles.
• Work with steel, aluminium and stainless steel alongside our workshop team.

Job description

We’re looking for experienced Truck Body Builders and Trailer Builders to join our Smeaton Grange workshop. Hands‑on experience building truck bodies, trays or trailers is essential. If your trade background is in boilermaking, welding or fabrication and you’ve worked on these builds, we’d like to hear from you.

Austec Fabrications specialises in vehicle body building, transport hydraulics, fabrication and heavy vehicle repairs. We work with some of Australia’s leading transport companies and truck manufacturers.

About the role

• Fabricate, assemble and fit truck bodies, trays and trailer components.
• Work from drawings and specifications to measure, mark out, cut, weld and fit components.
• Carry out fit-outs, modifications and repairs on truck bodies, trailers, tippers and other heavy vehicles.
• Work with steel, aluminium and stainless steel alongside our workshop team.

What you’ll need

• Proven experience building truck bodies, trays or trailers, with hands‑on involvement in fabrication, assembly or fit‑up.
• MIG welding skills. TIG experience is a bonus.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and work accurately from measurements.
• Strong fabrication and fitting skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Your own hand tools, a current driver’s licence and full working rights in Australia.
