Job summary

Georg Fischer in Brisbane's Brendale site seeks an experienced Fabrication Manager to lead our fabrication team, delivering projects safely, on time and on budget within a modern, state-of-the-art facility. You will plan production schedules, oversee daily operations, review drawings, manage BOMs, and drive continuous improvement while upholding ISO 9000 quality standards and strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Proven leader: experience managing a fabrication, manufacturing or workshop team, ideally in plastic piping or a related industry.
• Technical know-how: read 3D/2D CAD drawings, isometric piping drawings, BOMs and specifications.
• Commercially strong: P&L experience and track record of running projects on time and on budget, with solid admin skills.
• Great communicator: a coach and relationship builder with customers and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily production and fabrication operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to quality standards.
• Plan and manage production schedules, workforce allocation, materials and equipment to maximise operational efficiency.
• Review customer drawings and specifications and own the full work order process from BOM setup to shipping.
• Champion safety and quality: enforce ISO 9000 quality procedures, run audits and training, and lead incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Drive accountability, performance, productivity and continuous improvement across the team.
• Monitor production costs, labour efficiency, material wastage and operational budgets to improve profitability.
• Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Operations and other departments to optimise production processes, resolve challenges and meet customer expectations.

About you

Technical know-how: confident reading 3D/2D CAD drawings, isometric piping drawings, BOMs and specifications.

Commercially strong: solid profit and loss (P&L) experience and a track record of running projects on time and on budget, with strong organisational and admin skills (work orders, ERP, procurement, scheduling).

Great communicator: a coach and relationship builder who works well with customers and colleagues across the business.
