Mitre 10 Cohuna is seeking an experienced Store Manager to lead a busy retail team in Cohuna, Victoria. You will drive customer-first service, oversee stock, and manage profitability while mentoring staff and ensuring safe, compliant operations.

The role requires hands-on leadership in all aspects of store performance, from customer engagement to inventory accuracy and compliance. A current driver’s license is preferred and forklift experience is advantageous.

About the Role

As Store Manager, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the business, leading a dedicated team whilst ensuring operational excellence across customer service, inventory management, logistics, and financial performance.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who thrives in a community-focused environment and can confidently manage all aspects of a busy retail operation.
Your Leadership Impact
  • Lead and promote a customer-first culture across the business.

  • Deliver exceptional customer experiences and foster strong community relationships.

  • Support the team in providing expert product advice and solutions

  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop team members.

  • Manage staff performance, rostering, and workforce planning.

  • Lead by example, inspiring the team to achieve both individual and store goals.

  • Oversee inventory management, stock control, and stock take processes ensuring high levels of stock accuracy and product availability

  • Maintain exceptional standards of store presentation, merchandising, and housekeeping.

  • Manage and analyse store Profit & Loss (P&L) performance.

  • Develop and execute plans to improve profitability and operational efficiencies.

  • Monitor sales, margins, wages, and expenses against budget expectations.

  • Ensure compliance with vehicle, safety, and transport requirements.

  • Maintain a safe and compliant workplace for employees and customers.

The Leader We’re Looking For
  • Has proven retail management experience, ideally within hardware, building supplies, rural merchandise, trade, or a similar industry.
  • Is passionate about delivering outstanding customer service and building strong customer relationships.
  • Has strong inventory management and stock control experience.
  • Demonstrates excellent people leadership skills and can coach, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Possesses strong commercial acumen and experience managing Profit & Loss (P&L) performance.
  • Can effectively manage budgets, wages, stock turn, margins, and overall store profitability.
  • Is highly organised, proactive, and solutions focused.
  • Is willing to be hands-on in all areas of the business, including customer deliveries when required.
  • Holds a current driver’s licence (forklift license advantageous).
