Job summary

Mitre 10 in Maitland is seeking an experienced Store Manager to lead our store. This permanent full-time role reports to the Group Operations Manager and drives sales, performance, and a high-performing team culture delivering outstanding customer service.

As hands-on leader you will coach staff, manage wages, stock flow, presentation and costs, ensuring the right product mix and compliance. Hours are Monday–Friday, 7am–4pm. Benefits include extra leave, parental leave and wellbeing initiatives.

• Previous retail leadership or store management experience, preferably in hardware.
• Understanding of stock management, cost control and financial performance.
• Strong customer focus, especially with building trades.
• Excellent communication and people leadership skills.

We are looking for a driven and experienced Store Manager to lead our store in Maitland.

Reporting to the Group Operations Manager, this is a permanent full-time position and you’ll be responsible for driving sales, managing store performance, and building a high-performing team culture that delivers outstanding customer service.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll coach and support your team, drive operational excellence, and play a key part in shaping the store’s success.

What you will be doing:

• Lead, coach and develop team members to achieve their full potential
• Translate business strategy into clear store-level goals and action plans
• Monitor performance and conduct regular reviews of financial and operational KPIs
• Manage wages, stock flow, store presentation and operating costs
• Ensure the right mix of products is available to meet customer needs and drive sales
• Uphold safety, compliance and store standards
• Create a team culture that values communication, collaboration and accountability

You are likely a match if you have:

• Previous retail leadership or store management experience, preferably in the hardware industry.
• Understanding of stock management, cost control and financial performance.
• Strong customer focus – especially with building trades.
• Proven experience working with suppliers.
• Excellent communication and people leadership skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
• Commercial mindset and strong attention to detail.
• Availability to work across a Monday to Friday store hours from 7am – 4pm.
• Experience in timber, home improvement or trade retail (preferred but not essential).
