Experienced Sales Development Representative – B2B Outbound

Sales Development Representative (SDR) – B2B Outbound Sales

WorkGuru | Brisbane, QLD | Full-time, Office-Based

$70,000–$80,000 base + super + uncapped commission

Love selling? Love the phone? Want to earn great money doing what you're good at?

We're looking for an experienced Sales Development Representative who genuinely enjoys sales.

Not someone looking to tick the SDR box for six months before becoming an Account Executive. Not someone who wants to spend their day sending automated LinkedIn messages.

We're looking for someone who loves having conversations, knows how to uncover opportunities, can handle objections, and gets genuine satisfaction from turning a prospect into a qualified sales opportunity.

If you're commercially curious, confident on the phone, and enjoy the challenge of winning business, we'd love to talk.

About WorkGuru

WorkGuru is a fast-growing, Australian-owned SaaS company building powerful job management and operational software for businesses that make, build, repair and install things.

Our customers are fabrication workshops, engineering firms, manufacturers and commercial trades businesses. We help them manage everything from quoting and purchasing through to jobs, inventory, timesheets and invoicing.

These businesses have traditionally been stuck choosing between software that's too basic for their needs and expensive, complicated ERP systems that are difficult to use.

We're changing that.

We're a profitable, founder-led business with a growing customer base across Australia, New Zealand, the UK and beyond. We're investing heavily in growth, building genuinely useful technology, and taking market share from established competitors.

We're now expanding our outbound sales team to accelerate that growth.

The Role

This is a dedicated outbound sales role with two key areas of focus.

1. Re-engaging businesses that already know WorkGuru

We've had hundreds of businesses trial WorkGuru or become customers over the years that didn't end up getting the full value from the platform.

Some struggled with implementation. Some needed functionality that didn't exist at the time. Others simply weren't ready to make a change.

WorkGuru has evolved enormously, and we now have a compelling reason to reconnect.

You’ll be reaching out to these businesses, understanding what happened, discovering whether their circumstances have changed, and identifying opportunities to bring them back.

These aren't completely cold conversations. Many of these prospects already know who we are and what we do.

2. Winning customers from competing software platforms

We're launching an aggressive campaign targeting businesses currently using competing job management and ERP software.

Many of these businesses are frustrated by rising software costs, complicated workflows, restrictive contracts and systems that haven't kept up with their needs.

Our WorkGuru Switch offer gives them a compelling reason to consider changing platforms.

You’ll be contacting a targeted list of businesses, speaking with decision‑makers, understanding their current challenges and introducing WorkGuru as an alternative.

Your job isn't to deliver a full software demonstration or close the deal yourself.

It's to start the right conversations, uncover genuine buying opportunities and book qualified meetings for our Account Executives.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Making proactive outbound calls to businesses across Australia.
  • Re‑engaging former trial users and previous customers.
  • Prospecting into targeted lists of businesses using competing software.
  • Speaking with business owners, general managers, operations managers and other decision‑makers.
  • Asking intelligent questions to understand their business, current systems and operational challenges.
  • Handling objections confidently and professionally.
  • Booking properly qualified meetings for our Account Executives.
  • Working closely with the sales team to improve messaging, targeting and conversion rates.
  • Keeping accurate records and managing follow‑ups in HubSpot.
  • Building and maintaining a healthy pipeline of sales opportunities.

You’ll have structured campaigns, targeted prospect lists, a strong product offering and an experienced sales team supporting you.

This is a role for someone who enjoys being proactive, not waiting for opportunities to arrive.

What We’re Looking For
You’ll need:
  • At least two years of proven experience in a phone-heavy sales role, ideally B2B outbound sales (but experience in a Workshop or Construction business highly respected).
  • Confidence initiating conversations with people who aren't expecting your call.
  • A track record of generating qualified sales opportunities or achieving outbound sales targets.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Genuine curiosity about how businesses operate and what challenges they face.
  • The ability to listen, ask good questions and adapt your approach.
  • Resilience, persistence and comfort handling rejection.
  • Strong personal organisation and follow‑through.
  • Experience working with a CRM and managing structured sales activity.
  • A positive attitude, a strong work ethic and a willingness to be coached.

Experience selling SaaS, technology, business services or solutions to industrial businesses would be valuable, but isn't essential.

We’re more interested in your ability to sell than the particular product you’ve sold previously.

Who Will Thrive Here?

You’ll probably love this role if:

  • You genuinely enjoy talking to people on the phone.
  • You get a buzz from turning a difficult conversation into a genuine opportunity.
  • You’re comfortable with meaningful activity targets but understand that quality matters just as much as quantity.
  • You’re motivated by earning commission and being recognised for results.
  • You like learning about different businesses and solving real problems.
  • You’re happy being measured on outcomes, not just how busy you look.
  • You enjoy being part of a collaborative sales team.

Importantly, we want someone who sees real value in becoming an excellent SDR.

There's plenty of room to grow your skills, responsibility and earning potential as WorkGuru expands. But we're not advertising this as a short-term pathway into an Account Executive position.

We want someone who’s excited about the work itself and wants to be genuinely great at it.

What We Offer

$70,000–$80,000 base salary + superannuation + uncapped commission.

Along with:

  • Uncapped earning potential: You’ll be rewarded for generating genuine, qualified sales opportunities.
  • A product worth selling: We're solving real operational problems for businesses that need better software.
  • Warm and cold opportunities: A combination of existing relationships, previous trials and targeted competitor campaigns.
  • An established sales team: Experienced Account Executives and sales leadership to support you.
  • Real investment in growth: We're actively expanding our sales and marketing efforts, not expecting you to generate everything from scratch.
  • Direct access to decision‑makers: We're a founder‑led business without layers of corporate bureaucracy.
  • A growing Australian software company: Join a profitable business with ambitious plans and significant opportunities ahead.

This is a full‑time, office‑based position in Brisbane. We value working together, sharing what's working and building a high‑performing team.

Sound Like You?

If you’re an experienced phone‑based salesperson who enjoys the challenge of outbound sales, knows how to build rapport and wants to earn well in a growing business, we’d love to hear from you.

Tell us a little about your sales background, what you’ve been selling, and what makes you effective on the phone.
