Yarralumla Surgery is seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist to join our busy general practice. The role is casual, 10–32 hours per week with the option to move to part-time, based in Canberra.

You will welcome patients, triage with the clinical team, manage messages, schedule appointments, and handle payments and Medicare/DVA/Workcover claims while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Formación

• Minimum 1 year experience in a medical or specialist practice.

Responsabilidades

• Greet and welcome patients in a friendly, professional manner.
• Triage patients in collaboration with clinical team.
• Take messages across phone, email, and in person and relay to relevant staff.
• Schedule and manage patient appointments.
• Process payments and Medicare, DVA and Workcover claims.
• Perform basic administration and day-to-day clinic tasks.
• Keep waiting area organised and presentable.
• Engage with diverse patients while maintaining privacy.

Yarralumla Surgery is seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist to join our busy, friendly and supportive general practice. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in their work and contributes positively to a collaborative team.

The role is from 10-32 hours per week on a casual basis with the option of transitioning to part-time.

About the Practice

Yarralumla Surgery operates Monday to Friday, 8:00am–6:00pm, with morning and afternoon sessions across seven consulting rooms and a dedicated treatment room.

About the Role

• Welcoming patients to the clinic in a friendly and professional manner
• Working collaboratively with the clinical team and fellow Receptionists to effectively triage patients
• Efficiently and accurately taking messages across various mediums (phone, email, in-person) and communicating requests with the relevant team members
• Scheduling and managing patient appointments
• Processing payments and managing Medicare, DVA and Workcover claims
• Basic administration duties - restocking, surface cleaning, data entry, start-of-day and end-of-day reconciliation tasks.
• Ensuring the waiting room is well‑organised and presentable
• Engaging with a diverse range of patients and professional contacts with sensitivity and discretion, while always upholding patient confidentiality and privacy.

You are friendly, compassionate and reliable, with a professional approach and the ability to remain calm and organised in a busy medical practice. You enjoy being part of a team, take initiative and understand the importance of accuracy, discretion and excellent patient service.

To be considered for this role, applicants must have at least one year’s experience working in a medical or specialist practice and will have:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a warm and professional manner.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• The ability to work collaboratively while confidently completing tasks independently.
• A high standard of professionalism and a strong understanding of patient confidentiality and privacy.
• Computer literacy, including Windows and Microsoft Office, with experience using Best Practice or similar medical practice software.
