Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years in floor sanding and finishing in the building trades

  • Able to deliver high-quality finishes meeting client expectations
  • Full current driving licence and reliable transport across Sydney

About the role

We are seeking both Experienced Floor Sanders and Junior/Apprentice Floor Sanders to join our growing team across all Sydney, NSW locations on a full-time basis. As a Floor Sander at Exclusive Floor Sanding, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional floor preparation and finishing services to our clients. Key responsibilities

As an Experienced Floor Sander:

Operate and maintain floor sanding equipment, including drum sanders, belt sanders, and edge sanders, in compliance with safety standards

Prepare floors for sanding by identifying surface conditions, assessing damage, and determining appropriate treatment methods

Execute precise sanding operations to remove old finishes, stains, and imperfections from wooden and composite flooring

Assess and manage dust control systems to maintain a safe working environment and protect property

Apply appropriate finishes, sealers, and protective coatings following manufacturer specifications and client requirements

Conduct quality inspections throughout all stages of work to ensure superior craftsmanship and client satisfaction

Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and time spent on each project

Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment

Mentor and provide guidance to apprentices on best practices and techniques

Liaise with clients to discuss project requirements, timelines, and concerns


As an Apprentice Floor Sander:

Assist experienced floor sanders with all aspects of floor preparation and sanding operations

Learn proper operation and maintenance of floor sanding equipment under supervision

Support the setup and breakdown of work sites, ensuring all equipment and materials are properly managed

Develop skills in identifying flooring types and surface conditions

Assist with applying finishes and protective coatings under guidance

Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas and equipment

Develop understanding of health and safety protocols and best practice standards

Participate in on-the-job training and formal apprenticeship requirements

What we're looking for

For Experienced Floor Sanders:

Minimum 2 years of proven experience in floor sanding and finishing within the building trades industry

Trade qualifications or recognised certification in floor sanding or related building trades

Expert proficiency in operating various floor sanding equipment and finishing machinery

Strong understanding of different flooring types, timber species, and appropriate treatment methods

Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality finishes that meet client expectations

Full current driving licence and reliable transport to multiple locations across Sydney

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to precision workmanship

Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members and clients

Valid White Card (Construction Induction) and current First Aid certification

Willingness to mentor apprentices and contribute to a positive team culture

Genuine enthusiasm and motivation to develop a career in the floor sanding and building trades

Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies

Good physical fitness and ability to work on feet for extended periods

Reliable and punctual attendance

Basic communication skills

Valid White Card (Construction Induction) or willingness to obtain

Commitment to health and safety principles in the workplace
