Job summary

Lefkas Taverna is seeking an experienced chef to join its kitchen team in Brisbane. You will work under the head chef, multitask in a fast-paced environment, and contribute to a great dining experience with strong knife skills and a well-developed palate.

This permanent part-time role involves approximately 30+ hours over 4 days per week. Knowledge of Greek cuisine is not essential, but a well-developed palate and teamwork are important.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of customer service practices.
• Knowledge of WHS requirements.
• Able to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of food allergies and safe handling.
• Excellent knife skills and hand-eye coordination.
• Good stamina and physical condition.
• Proven experience as a chef in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Experience with cutting tools, cookware and bakeware.
• Familiar with various cooking methods (grilling, baking, boiling).
• Ability to follow all sanitation procedures and work in a team.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assemble dishes for service.
• Oversee stages of food preparation.
• Read orders and liaise with head chef and staff to ensure correct plating.
• Ensure quality and timely preparation of meals.
• Monitor stock levels and place orders when shortages are detected.
