Job summary

Department of Industry, Science and Resources is seeking a hands-on facilities management leader to oversee operations across a portfolio of specialist scientific and technical facilities. You will supervise facilities staff, manage maintenance and compliance programs, and engage with contractors and stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant and reliable services.

You will lead planning for asset lifecycle, risk management, and continuous improvement while supporting critical science and research

Qualifications

• Current Australian Driver Licence is required.
• Ability to regularly attend operational sites and undertake site inspections.
• Qualifications in facilities management, engineering, building services, construction, property or related discipline.
• Experience in laboratory, research, technical, industrial or other highly serviced facilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day facilities management activities across allocated facilities.
• Manage and participate in a 24/7 on call roster to support site operations.
• Manage facilities maintenance programs and contractor performance.
• Monitor asset condition and contribute to lifecycle planning and renewal activities.
• Lead the planning and delivery of minor works and facilities improvement projects.
• Develop and monitor maintenance budgets, forecasts and expenditure.
• Manage operational risks and support business continuity activities.
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, environmental and security requirements.
• Coordinate statutory inspections, certifications and essential services maintenance.
• Build productive relationships with facility users, stakeholders and service providers.
• Provide facilities management advice and support across the property portfolio.
• Supervise and develop Facilities Officers and other operational staff as required.
