Job summary

Sergeants Mess, operated by Grand Pacific Group in Sydney, is seeking a qualified Event Chef to join its luxury hospitality team. Reporting to the Head Chef, you will prepare and cook high-quality dishes for events, contribute to menu ideas, and help manage portions, waste and stock while ensuring safety and presentation standards.

This role offers sponsorship opportunities for the right candidates and a flexible roster in a stunning harbour-side setting with panoramic views.

Qualifications

• Creative chef with a passion for high-end hospitality.
• Demonstrated understanding of food safety standards and allergen awareness.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Team player who can work independently and with others.
• Flexible to work days, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking food according to customers’ orders.
• Ensuring that all dishes are of high quality and presented well.
• Provide input to seasonal changes and/or specials to the menus.
• Order food supplies as required.
• Demonstrating cooking techniques to kitchen staff and advising other chefs on procedures.
• Help monitor costs with regard to portion control, waste minimisation and stock control.
• Explain and enforce hygiene regulations and safe work practices with knowledge of allergy restrictions.
• Carrying out quality checks on food supplies to ensure quality and freshness.
• Liaising with Front of House Manager to ensure smooth service.
• Sponsorship available for the right candidates.
