Job summary

Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd is seeking an Equipment Specialist for a 6-month fixed-term opportunity. Role is site-based with one day remote, and candidates can be based in Rockhampton or Townsville, Queensland.

The role focuses on aligning maintenance and production plans with customer needs, providing technical support, and inspecting equipment to prevent downtimes. Strong experience with Caterpillar fleets is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a customer-facing technical role.
• Strong customer relationship skills.
• Engineering qualification or equivalent technical expertise.
• Experience in mining or heavy equipment industries.
• Solid parts product knowledge and familiarity with Caterpillar fleets.

Responsibilities

• Understand maintenance and production plans to identify improvements.
• Provide customers with technical support and act as primary contact for dealer and OEM services.
• Conduct scheduled inspections to prevent downtime.
• Record downtime events in AMT and forecast components.
• Capture commercial insights in CRM to support parts and service demand planning.

Job description

Company : Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd Due to an internal secondment, Hastings Deering is seeking an Equipment Specialist for a 6-month fixed term opportunity, with the potential of extension. This role is Monday to Friday, with site-based work and one day remote (subject to business needs). We are open to candidates based out of Rockhampton or Townsville.

Key Responsibilities

• Build an understanding of customer maintenance and production plans to identify improvement opportunities
• Provide customers with technical support and act as their single point of contact for dealer and OEM services
• Conduct scheduled inspections to prevent premature failures and costly downtime
• Accurately record downtime events in AMT and maintain reliable component forecasts
• Capture commercial insights in CRM to support parts and service demand planning

About You

• 5+ years’ experience in a customer-facing technical role
• Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships
• Tertiary engineering qualification, relevant trade or equivalent technical expertise
• Strong problem-solving skills, initiative and agility in dynamic environments
• Background in mining, mining services or heavy equipment industries
• Solid parts product knowledge and familiarity with Caterpillar fleets
