Job summary

Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd in Rockhampton is seeking an experienced Trades Assistant to join our CRC team. The role is permanent, full-time, Monday to Friday, and involves supporting trade-qualified personnel with mechanical repairs and rebuilds of heavy equipment.

You will also help with equipment handling, parts and tools management, and daily operational support, while following safety procedures and contributing to team goals. Licences for warehouse equipment are a plus.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in mechanical, workshop or trades assistant role is valued.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork are important.
• Organised and proactive attitude with safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical support: assist trade-qualified personnel with repairs and rebuilds of heavy equipment.
• Equipment handling: operate and support loading/unloading; forklifts/cranes if licensed.
• Parts & tools management: log and organise inventory for technicians.
• Safety first: follow WHS procedures to maintain a safe work environment.

Hastings Deering is looking for an experienced Trades Assistant to join our Rockhampton Branch in our CRC team. In this role, you'll work alongside a dedicated team to deliver exceptional service and support to our customers. This is a Permanent, Full-time, Monday to Friday role.

What you'll be doing

• Mechanical Support - Assist trade-qualified personnel with mechanical repairs and rebuilds of heavy equipment and machinery.
• Equipment Handling - Operate and support the loading/unloading of equipment and safely use material-handling machinery (e.g. forklifts, overhead cranes if licensed).
• Parts & Tools Management - Help manage parts, tools and inventory, ensuring everything is correctly logged and readily available for technicians.
• Safety First - Follow all workplace health and safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment at all times.
• Daily Operational Support - Contribute to day-to-day operational activities and support overall team goals.

About you:

• Experience that counts - previous experience in mechanical, workshop or trades assistant role (highly regarded but not essential; strong willingness to learn is valued).
• Strong communicator - excellent communication skills with a genuine team focus.
• Licenses a plus - operation of warehouse equipment where required (e.g., forklifts and overhead crane if licenced).
• Organised and efficient - strong organisational skills, reliability and a proactive attitude.
• Team player - ability to work well within a team and follow direction from senior technicians.
