Job summary

Redland City Council is seeking an Assistant Treatment Plant Operator to join the wastewater team on the Redlands Coast. This entry-level role offers hands-on duties across multiple sites with comprehensive on-the-job training and a pathway to a funded Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (Wastewater).

You will assist with daily operation, monitoring, sampling and basic lab work, learning from experienced operators while building a long-term career in essential public services.

Qualifications

• No prior wastewater experience required.
• Willingness to learn and complete Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (Wastewater).
• Ability to work rotating roster including weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operation and monitoring of wastewater treatment plants across multiple sites.
• Support plant operators with inspections, checks, maintenance and process monitoring.
• Collect samples, perform basic laboratory tests and monitor treatment processes.
• Identify and report operational issues, equipment faults and safety concerns.
• Collaborate with Council staff and contractors to maintain safe, efficient plant operations.
• Assist with general housekeeping, cleaning and maintenance of plant facilities and equipment.
