Redland City Council’s Assistant Treatment Plant Operator role offers an entry-level pathway into the wastewater sector, with on–the–job training and mentoring from experienced operators. You will support day-to-day plant operation and monitoring across Redland City facilities while gaining essential hands-on skills.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and an interest in diagnosing and solving practical problems.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and follow instructions with limited supervision.
• Interest in science, chemistry, biological processes or how infrastructure systems operate.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the operation and monitoring of wastewater treatment plants across multiple sites.
• Support Treatment Plant Operators with routine inspections, plant checks, maintenance activities and process monitoring.
• Collect samples, perform basic laboratory testing and assist with monitoring treatment processes.
• Identify and report potential operational issues, equipment faults and safety concerns.
• Work collaboratively with Council staff and contractors to maintain safe and efficient plant operations.
• Assist with general housekeeping, cleaning and maintenance of plant facilities and equipment.
