Job summary

voestalpine Railway Systems Australia is seeking an Engineering Operator for a permanent full-time position in Bathurst, NSW. You will operate machinery in switch building, bending, and plate cutting, read engineering drawings, and perform quality checks to ensure product standards are met.

You will maintain a clean production area and work within a team following safety processes, with pre-employment medical requirements including drug and alcohol testing.

Qualifications

• Experience in a trade's assistant or labouring role in manufacturing/construction/mechanical environment.
• Strong ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and a proactive, safety-focused mindset.

About the Position

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Engineering Operator is responsible for carrying out various tasks within the production team, including but not limited to:

Operating machinery and equipment used in switch building, switch bending, and plate cutting areas.

Read and interpret engineering drawings.

Performing quality control checks, such as ensuring manufactured products meet company standards and specifications.

Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the switch production area.

Work as part of a team and follow all production and safety processes.

About You

To be successful in the Engineering Operator position, you will need:

Experience working within a similar trade's assistant or labouring position in a manufacturing/construction/mechanical environment.

Exceptional attention to detail with ability to understand measurements.

Be mechanically minded.

Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and follow detailed instructions.

Strong communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude.

Willing and able to complete a Pre-Employment Medical, including Drug & Alcohol Testing
