Job summary

CommBank is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary squad delivering end-to-end customer experiences across iOS, Android and backend services. You will steer technical direction, coordinate with Product and Design, and ensure secure, observable, and resilient production software for millions of customers.

You will stay hands-on with architecture, solutioning and delivery, while coaching engineers and growing the team in a fast-moving, AI-enabled environment.

Qualifications

• Led multidisciplinary engineering squads responsible for customer-facing products in production.
• Strong native iOS or Android expertise, using Swift/Obj-C or Kotlin/Java.
• Broader experience across APIs and backend services (e.g., .NET/C# or Node.js).

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary digital squad delivering end-to-end customer experiences across native mobile and backend services.
• Co-own customer outcomes with Product and Design, from problem understanding to production measurement.
• Set technical direction across mobile, web, APIs and backend to ensure a unified product experience.
• Lead critical notifications and inbox capabilities with high-volume API readiness and migration.
• Stay hands-on with architecture, solutioning, proofs of concept, and delivery where value is highest.
• Build security, observability, resilience and operational ownership into daily engineering decisions.
• Coach engineers, provide feedback, and foster an inclusive environment for growth and ownership.
• Improve automated testing, CI/CD, release practices and the squad’s path to production.
• Lead responsible use of AI across discovery, implementation, testing, documentation and operations.
