Job summary

Andaz Gold Coast is seeking an Assistant Manager – Engineering to lead maintenance for a pre-opening hotel. You will support daily operations of the Engineering department, coordinate planned and reactive maintenance, and oversee contractor management to ensure safety and reliability.

The role requires hotel engineering experience, people leadership, strong knowledge of building services and safety standards, and the ability to work across a rotating roster as the team prepares for opening.

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel engineering, facilities or similar environments.
• Experience supervising or leading a team.
• Strong knowledge of building services, maintenance and workplace safety.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Calm, organised and practical approach.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day operation of the Engineering department.
• Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance across the hotel.
• Lead, coach and support our engineering colleagues.
• Work closely with hotel departments to respond to maintenance needs.
• Help manage contractors, compliance checks and safety requirements.
• Maintain accurate records, logs and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Contribute to energy efficiency, sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support the Chief Engineer with projects and departmental priorities.
