Job summary

Public Transport Authority seeks an experienced Engagement and Communications professional within the Rail Planning branch to lead engagement activities, develop compelling materials, and manage relationships with government, industry partners and the public. Your role will help shape Western Australia’s public transport future through clear, strategic communications.

Job description

Every rail project tells a story long before the first track is laid. It begins with conversations, collaboration, and trust. As an Engagement and Communications professional within the PTA's Rail Planning branch, you will be at the centre of these conversations, helping the public, government agencies, businesses, and industry partners understand and shape the future of public transport.

You will lead engagement activities for major rail planning projects that connect people, develop compelling communication materials, manage stakeholder relationships, and support the delivery of projects that will benefit Western Australians for generations to come. From government briefings to multimedia content and strategic engagement plans, your ability to communicate clearly and build strong relationships will play a vital role in project success.

We're looking for an experienced communicator who thrives on connecting with people, navigating complex issues, and turning technical information into meaningful conversations. About You!

To excel in this role, you should possess:

• A proven ability to concisely and clearly deliver a broad range of communications, including print, online and face-to-face, to effectively meet strategic engagement objectives.
• Experience in responding to government and industry stakeholder enquiries and issues in a timely and professional manner including face-to-face, online and via phone.
• The ability to negotiate and liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive stakeholder relationships, effectively manage issues, and work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Relevant tertiary qualification or experience.

There is currently one fixed term opportunity available to 30 June 2028,

with the possibility of renewal and/or permanency. The opportunity may also available as part-time by negotiation. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies on a fixed term or permanent basis that may arise within the next 12 months
