Job summary

Animal Referral Hospital (ARH) Sydney is offering a Veterinary Nursing Internship for qualified nurses seeking hands-on experience in emergency and referral care. The program splits time 75% in Emergency & Critical Care and 25% in specialty rotations, with a dedicated mentor and a clear competency plan.

You’ll rotate through Internal Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology and Cardiology, with weekly expert-led education and formal progress reviews.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent) and at least 1 year of experience in general practice.
• Genuine interest in Emergency & Critical Care and referral nursing.
• Curious and motivated, and comfortable asking questions and taking feedback.
• Organised, adaptable and a good communicator in a busy team environment.

Responsibilities

• Emergency triage, patient assessment and clinical reasoning.
• Nursing hospitalised emergency and critical care patients, and recognising and responding to changes in their condition.
• CRIs, blood products, transfusion medicine, advanced analgesia and emergency medications.
• Assisting with CPR, intubation, thoracocentesis and advanced patient monitoring.
• Complex medical, surgical and specialty cases across our referral departments.

Education
