Job summary

St John of God Geelong Hospital is seeking a reliable Unit Receptionist for our busy Emergency Department. This permanent part-time role offers up to 30 hours per fortnight with night shifts, providing a welcoming first point of contact for patients and clinicians.

You will manage appointments, support the clinical team, and ensure confidential handling of patient data in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and assist patients and visitors.
• Manage appointments and waiting room efficiency.
• Serve as the first point of contact for the service.
• Answer telephone calls promptly and professionally.
• Provide high-level secretarial and administrative support.
• Support clinicians and allied health professionals.
• Liaise with hospitals, referrers and other providers.
• Confidential handling of patient data and records.
• Maintain mail, emails and faxes.
• Carry out additional administrative duties as required.
