Job summary

St John of God Geelong Hospital is seeking a reliable Unit Receptionist to join our busy Emergency Department. You will be the first point of contact for patients, families, and clinicians, delivering professional, compassionate service while supporting the wider clinical team.

This permanent part-time role offers up to 30 hours per fortnight with night shifts and casual opportunities. You will manage appointments, answer calls, and maintain efficient waiting areas in a 24/7 roster.

Qualifications

• Experience in health care or hospital environment.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to deliver exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming patients and visitors in person and by phone.
• Managing appointments and waiting room efficiency.
• Serving as first point of contact for the service.
• Answering calls professionally and promptly.
• Providing high-level secretarial and administrative support.
• Supporting clinicians and allied health professionals.
• Coordinating with hospitals, referrers and other providers.
• Maintaining patient data, procedures, and records securely.
• Handling mail, emails, and faxes.
• Carrying out additional admin duties as required.
