Job summary

Southern NSW Local Health District is seeking an Emergency Department Administration Officer to support frontline administration across busy Emergency Departments at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals. You will register and update patient information using iPM and FirstNet, manage admissions and medical records, and provide switchboard and stakeholder support.

The role requires extensive admin experience, strong customer service, confidentiality, and the ability to work in a 24/7 rotating

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in an administrative role with exceptional customer service and confidentiality.
  • Strong verbal, written, negotiation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills with accuracy, initiative and flexibility.
  • Proficiency in IT applications including Microsoft Office and data information skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to multitask and handle unexpected matters professionally; capacity for a 24/7 rotating roster.

Responsibilities

  • Register and update patient information accurately using iPM and FirstNet.
  • Manage admissions, medical records, data entry and associated documentation.
  • Provide professional communication and support to clinical teams and stakeholders.
  • Manage cash handling, receipting and daily cash balancing per LHD procedures.
  • Provide administrative and switchboard support, including responding to MET calls, codes and alarms.

What you'll be doing

As an Emergency Department Administration Officer, you’ll provide high-level administrative and frontline support, ensuring patients, clinicians and stakeholders receive accurate and timely service.

Register and update patient information accurately using iPM and FirstNet

Manage admissions, medical records, data entry and associated documentation

Provide professional communication and support to clinical teams and internal and external stakeholders

Manage cash handling, receipting and daily cash balancing in accordance with LHD procedures

Provide administrative and switchboard support, including responding to MET calls, codes and alarms when required

Extensive experience in an administrative role, with demonstrated experience in exceptional customer service skills the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Demonstrated superior verbal, written, negotiation and interpersonal communication skills and effective communication with all levels of a large organisation.

Demonstrated organisational skills with proven ability in accuracy, initiative and flexibility.

Demonstrated knowledge and competency in the use of IT applications including Microsoft Office and data information skills.

Ability to work autonomously and actively participate within a multidisciplinary team.

Ability to multitask and handle unexpected matters when they arise in a professional & courteous manner

Ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster
