Job summary

NSW Health's Mount Druitt Hospital Emergency Department seeks a Clinical Nursing Unit Manager to lead clinical care and patient flow in a fast-paced setting, inspiring a multidisciplinary nursing team to deliver safe, high‑quality care.

You will oversee day‑to‑day coordination, monitor workforce allocation and service delivery, promote evidence‑based practice, safety and continuous improvement, and support staff development and timely patient access.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be working towards a post-registration qualification in emergency/critical care or nursing management.
• Demonstrated understanding of the different Emergency Department's models of care and an understanding of the Emergency Key Performance Indicators including Emergency Treatment Performance (ETP).
• Demonstrated skill in the analysis of complex issues, problem-solving, formulating new approaches and implementing strategies, including the ability to develop and monitor outcomes.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with other healthcare workers, clients and carers.
• Excellent time management and organisation skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and use initiative.
• Demonstrated understanding of managing nursing and resource allocations to deliver effective and efficient care.
• Understanding of the management of patient complaints and patient privacy.

What you’ll be doing

Selection Criteria

Must hold or be working towards a post‑registration qualification in emergency/critical care or nursing management, or have a minimum 5 years post registration experience in Emergency Medicine.

Demonstrated understanding of the different Emergency Department's models of care and an understanding of the Emergency Key Performance Indicators including Emergency Treatment Performance (ETP).

Demonstrated skill in the analysis of complex issues, problem‑solving, formulating new approaches and implementing strategies, including the ability to develop and monitor outcomes.
